Thực trạng về game thùng tại Việt Nam từ lâu đã đánh mất đi vị thế ngày xưa của mình. Đã từng một thời rất hưng thịnh tại Việt Nam nhưng đến nay, game arcade đã dần mất bóng vì từng làn sóng phát triển mạnh mẽ của công nghệ.
Những làn sóng phát triển của công nghệ
Từ giai đoạn internet bắt đầu phủ sóng ở Việt Nam. Các tiệm Net chơi game bằng máy vi tính mọc lên như nấm, ở thành thị và nông thôn. Làm cho vị thế của game thùng suy giảm trầm trọng. Khách chơi game hầu như vào chơi ở những tiệm game online. Chỉ một số ít người còn chơi game thùng.
Đến làn sóng của điện thoại di động, smartphone hiện đại tràn vào Việt Nam. Chơi game trên smartphone trở nên quá dể dàng đối với tất cả mọi người. Làm cho những cửa hàng cho thuê Netgame còn bị ảnh hưởng huống chi là cửa hàng game thùng. Đến đây thì game thùng thực sự chỉ còn là dĩ vãng.
Thực trạng về game thùng tại Việt Nam
Giờ muốn tìm lại, có chăng chỉ còn trong mấy siêu thị lớn, trung tâm thương mại. Một số bạn muốn tìm lại ký ức ngày xưa nên tự mua máy chơi game thùng thu nhỏ về chơi. Hoặc những tụ điểm chơi bắn cá địa phương với tính chất cờ bạc sát phạt nhau.
Nhưng đó chỉ là thực trạng riêng tại Việt Nam. Tại một số nước có nền game thùng mạnh trên thế giới như Nhật Bản, Hàn Quốc, Trung Quốc. Thì game thùng vẫn sống khỏe và sống tốt.
Ở những quốc gia đó thường xuyên tổ chức những giải thi đấu. Cũng như những trận đấu giao hữu online với nhau. Những tựa game đối kháng hàng đầu như Street Fighter, King Of Fighter, Double Dragon, Hoàng Phi Hồng… vẫn luôn được duy trì và phát triển bởi những cộng đồng yêu game thùng trên thế giới.
